The terms that govern use of the Syntax Hive website, what you may and may not do with it, and how a client engagement is actually formed.

In short

Read the site, share it, get in touch — that is what it is for. Do not scrape it, break it, or pass our work off as yours. Sending the contact form starts a conversation; it does not create a contract. Project work is governed by a separate signed engagement agreement, and where that agreement differs from this page, the agreement wins.

Acceptance of these terms

These terms govern your use of this website. By browsing it, reading anything on it, or submitting the contact form, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

They apply every time you visit, so it is worth checking the date at the top of this page if you have not read them for a while.

engagement agreement
A separate written contract, signed by both sides, that governs a specific project we deliver for a client. It is not created by anything on this site.

What these terms cover, and what they do not

These terms cover your use of this website. They are not the contract for any project we deliver. Client work is governed by a separate engagement agreement signed by both sides, and where that agreement and this page differ, the engagement agreement prevails.

The distinction matters because the two documents do different jobs. This page sets ground rules for a public website that anyone can read. An engagement agreement sets scope, price, deliverables, timelines, confidentiality, ownership of the work produced and the liability position for a specific piece of work, negotiated between two named parties.

Two different documents, two different jobs.

Who we are

Syntax Hive is the trading name of Syntax Hive Technologies, an AI-first technology agency and the operator of this site.

The statutory details — legal form, registered address, registration number and the people authorised to represent the organisation — are published on the Imprint at /imprint. We would rather point you at one page that carries the verified detail than repeat it here, and where a field on that page is not yet filled in, it is because the detail has not been supplied rather than because we have chosen to withhold it.

What you may do

The site exists to be read. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use it for your own personal or internal business purposes, on the terms set out here.

  • Read, browse and search anything published on the site
  • Link to any page on the site, provided the link does not suggest an endorsement or relationship that does not exist
  • Quote short extracts with clear attribution to Syntax Hive and, where practical, a link to the source page
  • Print or save individual pages for your own reference, keeping any notices intact
  • Share pages with colleagues who are assessing us as a supplier
  • Use the contact form to make a genuine enquiry

That licence gives you permission to use the site. It does not transfer ownership of anything on it, and we may withdraw it if these terms are breached.

What you may not do

The following are not permitted. Most of them are simply the things that make a public site worse for everybody else.

  • Scraping, crawling, mirroring or automated harvesting of the site or its content, beyond ordinary indexing by a recognised search engine that respects our robots directives
  • Attempting to breach, probe or circumvent the security, access controls or rate limits of the site, or to reach any system, data or account you are not authorised to reach
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling or disassembling any part of the site, or attempting to derive its source code, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits and does not allow that permission to be excluded by agreement
  • Any unlawful use, or any use that infringes the intellectual property, privacy or other rights of anyone else
  • Misrepresenting your affiliation with us — including impersonating Syntax Hive or any of our people, or presenting yourself as a partner, reseller or representative when you are not
  • Overloading or degrading the service, whether by volume of requests, automated submissions, denial-of-service activity or anything else that interferes with other visitors
  • Introducing malware, or sending anything malicious, unlawful or deliberately misleading through the contact form
  • Removing, obscuring or altering any copyright, trademark or ownership notice

We apply automated anti-abuse measures to the contact form, including validating every submitted field on the server and limiting submissions to five per ten-minute window from the same network address. Those measures occasionally stop a legitimate enquiry. If that happens to you, email us directly instead — the address is at the end of this page.

We may restrict or block access where we reasonably believe these terms are being breached, and we may report unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities.

Enquiries do not create a contract

Submitting the contact form is an enquiry. It is not a binding offer, and it is not acceptance of one. Sending it obliges neither of us to anything.

Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance. Service descriptions, the budget ranges and timelines offered in the contact form, and anything published in a case study are invitations to talk rather than quotations. Any figure we give you before the work is scoped is indicative and may change once it is properly understood.

A contract between us forms only when both sides sign an engagement agreement covering the specific work. Until that happens there is no commitment on either side, however far a conversation has progressed, and no reply from us — including a proposal or an estimate — should be read as one.

What we do with the information you send through the form, and how long we keep it, is set out in our Privacy Policy.

Our intellectual property

The site and its contents belong to us or to our licensors. That includes the source code, the design system, the layout and typography, the written content, the original artwork and illustrations, and the selection and arrangement of all of it. These are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.

The Syntax Hive name, wordmark and logo are ours. Please do not use them in your own materials without our written permission, other than to refer to us accurately — for example, naming us as a supplier.

Beyond the short quotation and personal-reference use allowed above, you may not:

  • Republish substantial parts of the site, in any medium
  • Copy the design, code or written content into another product or website
  • Present our content or our work as your own, or as produced by anyone else
  • Use the content commercially, including in a proposal to your own client, without our written permission

If you want to use something and are not sure whether it is covered, ask us using the contact details below and we will confirm in writing.

Client work and third-party marks

Where a case study names a client, it is published with that client’s permission. Where a client is not named, no permission to identify them should be inferred, and please do not attempt to work out who they are from the surrounding detail.

Rights in the deliverables produced for a client are dealt with in that client’s engagement agreement, not on this page. Publishing a case study does not grant anyone a licence to the underlying work.

Third-party product names, company names, logos and trademarks that appear on the site are the property of their respective owners. We use them descriptively — to say accurately what a system was built with or integrated against. Their appearance does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, partnership or any affiliation between those owners and us, in either direction.

Accuracy of what we publish

We take care with what goes on this site. Case-study content describes work as it was delivered, and we would rather publish less than overstate.

Where a project has no independently verified figures, we publish qualitative outcomes rather than estimates. A number we cannot stand behind is worse than no number.

Nothing on the site is a guarantee, a warranty or a prediction of comparable results. Outcomes depend on your systems, your data, your team and your market, none of which we can assess from a web page.

Content may become out of date, and we may change, correct or remove anything on the site at any time without notice. We do not undertake to keep every page current.

The site may link to websites we do not operate. Those links are provided for convenience or for attribution.

We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy or practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Once you follow one, these terms stop applying and the other site’s terms and privacy notice take over. It is worth reading them.

Disclaimers

Everything on this site is general information. It is not professional, legal, financial, tax or security advice, and it is not tailored to your circumstances. Do not act on it alone — take proper advice for your own situation.

The site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations that are not expressly set out in these terms, whether implied by statute, common law or otherwise.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, timely, error-free or free of harmful components. We aim to keep it available and correct, and we cannot promise it. Access may be suspended, withdrawn or restricted at any time, including for maintenance.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. In particular, we do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that applicable law does not permit to be excluded or limited.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the site, your inability to use it, or your reliance on anything published on it. That includes loss of profit, loss of business or business opportunity, loss of goodwill or reputation, loss of anticipated savings, loss or corruption of data, and any indirect or consequential loss.

The site is made available free of charge and carries no fee, so any liability we have in connection with it is limited to the fullest extent applicable law permits. Liability arising from a project we deliver is a separate matter, dealt with in the engagement agreement for that project and not on this page.

If you use the site as a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights.

Indemnity

If you breach these terms — in particular the prohibited-use section — and that breach causes a third-party claim against us or a direct loss to us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages that result.

This applies only to loss actually caused by your breach. We will tell you promptly about any claim we intend to pass on, will not settle it without consulting you, and will take reasonable steps to keep costs down.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the site, are governed by the law of the operator’s registered seat, and the courts competent for that seat have jurisdiction. The registered seat is stated on the Imprint at /imprint. We would rather send you to the page that carries the verified detail than name a country here that we cannot yet stand behind.

Where a signed engagement agreement specifies a different governing law or a different forum for the work it covers, that agreement prevails for that work.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory rules of the law of the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes or as the law requires. The version that applies to you is the one published at the time you use the site, and the effective date is shown at the top of this page.

Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.

A change to this page never changes a signed engagement agreement. Those are amended only in the way the agreement itself provides.
